Excluded from first-team roster due to side injury on Aug. 8
Manager Lee Seung-yup “Just being on the bench helps…waiting for a substitute”

Reporter Park Yoon-seo = The Doosan Bears have a savior. The core of the team’s power, Yang Ji-won, is back.

Doosan named catcher Yang Yang-ji and outfielder Kim Tae-geun to its first-team roster ahead of its 2023 Shinhan Bank Solar KBO League game against the Kiwoom Heroes at Gocheok Sky Dome on April 22. Infielder Ahn Jae-seok was moved to the second team.

Catcher Yang Yang-ji returned to the first team. Yang, who hit .323 with nine home runs and 44 RBIs in 87 games this season, was sidelined with a left oblique injury on Aug. 8.

In a fortunate twist of fate, Yang made a quick recovery and returned to the first team in 14 days. However, he is unlikely to be the starting catcher for the three-game series against Kiwoom.안전놀이터

Ahead of the game against Kiwoom on the 22nd, Doosan manager Lee Seung-yeop said of Yang-ji, “It’s hard for him to be the starting catcher in this series. He hasn’t played a game since his return, and he will have to use his strength suddenly, so it’s a cautious area. Today, he won’t play defense and will pinch-hit.”

Doosan won just three games in Yang’s 13-game absence. The team hopes to revitalize its flow with Yang’s return. “Just having him on the bench helps,” Lee said. We can play with a different atmosphere,” Lee said.

Doosan will send ace Raul Alcantara, Brandon Waddell and Kim Dong-ju to start the three-game series against Kiwoom. Alcantara, who will take the mound against Kiwoom on April 22, is 10-5 with a 2.34 ERA in 22 games.

The starting lineup against Kim Sun-ki is Cho Su-hyun (center field), Kim Jae-ho (shortstop), Jose Rojas (left field), Yang Seok-hwan (first base), Kim Jae-hwan (designated hitter), Kim In-tae (right field), Kang Seung-ho (second base), Jang Seung-hyun (catcher), and Heo Kyung-min (third base).
