Following the departure of manager Enzi Postecoglou, Celtic are looking to bring back Brendan Rodgers.
The BBC reported on Thursday (June 14) that “Celtic are in advanced talks to bring back manager Brendan Rodgers. Celtic are looking for a replacement for Postecoglou, who has left for Tottenham Hotspur, and Rodgers is a likely candidate. No deal has been struck yet, but he is a priority.”
Celtic won the Domestic Treble (Scottish Premiership, Scottish FA Cup, Scottish League Cup) under Postecoglou last season. Postecoglou’s control of the squad and his attacking style of play propelled Celtic to the top of the Scottish table.
He was on Tottenham’s radar ahead of the new season. Spurs have been monitoring Postecoglou for some time and have now made the appointment official. “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Postecoglou as our new head coach,” the club said on its website on Saturday. Becoming the first Australian manager in the English Premier League (EPL), Mr. Postecoglou will join the club on July 1 and will sign a four-year contract.”
The Celtic managerial position is now vacant. With Postecoglou’s departure, the Hoops have quickly begun their search for a replacement, with Rodgers, a former manager of the club, at the top of their list.
Rodgers has made a name for himself at Celtic. After a less-than-stellar spell at Liverpool, Rodgers was hired as Celtic manager in 2016 and was able to turn things around. With Celtic, Rodgers won back-to-back league titles in 2016-17 and 2017-18, as well as two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups.스포츠토토
Rodgers then took over as Leicester City manager in 2019, a position he held until 2023. However, he was sacked midway through the 2022-23 season due to poor results, and Rodgers is currently without a job. Celtic are hoping to reunite with their former glory.
