Bae stepped up to the plate for the first time on the day with two outs in the top of the second inning and faced Castillo. After being hit in the right thigh by Castillo’s third pitch of the at-bat, Bae stole first base and attempted to steal second when the next batter, Palacios, came to bat. He then raced to third when the throw from the opposing catcher fell behind him.

It was 22 days since Bae stole second base in the first inning against the Toronto Blue Jays on May 6. Since then, Bae has failed to steal four straight bases and has been caught stealing five times. In particular, he was criticized by local media for his recent stolen base against the Texas Rangers.
Bae led off the fifth inning with a single and grounded out to second base. Then, in the bottom of the sixth inning, he made an unfortunate error on a grounder to first base with the bases loaded, allowing a runner to advance to second base. It was Bae’s seventh error of the season.
