The LG Twins completed a three-game weekend sweep with a batting explosion.

LG extended its winning streak to five games with a 17-8 victory in game 15 of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League against the Kiwoom Heroes at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul on Wednesday. The team improved to 61 wins, 2 draws, and 35 losses on the season.

LG piled on the runs early in the game, scoring five runs in the first and second innings to knock Kim Dong-gyu off the mound. In the bottom of the third inning, they scored seven runs, including a solo shot by leadoff hitter Austin Dean, to further tilt the game in their favor.안전놀이터

By the end of the fourth inning, LG had scored 13 runs. Tablesetters Hong Chang-ki and Shin Min-jae combined for five hits, with Hong going 4-for-2 with a home run and four RBIs, and Shin going 3-for-6 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored, respectively. Austin also had a three-hit performance, including a back-to-back home run, while Lee Jae-won went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.

It didn’t stop there. Park Dong-won also went 3-for-3 with a home run, a double, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Jung Joo-hyun, who came off the bench to replace Oh Ji-hwan, who was sidelined with a sore thigh, went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and two runs scored. In total, the team had seven players with multi-hit games, and the even performance of the hitters led to the team’s fifth straight win.

On top of that, Lim Chan-kyu, who started the game, was a bit off his usual form, allowing five runs on 11 hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings. The bullpen didn’t exactly have the cleanest of finishes either, giving up late inning runs.

Nevertheless, the hitters remained focused and LG was able to take the game in hand, allowing the bullpen to get some rest.
